Dedicated to Compassionate and Professional Representation

Family law is perhaps the most personal and emotionally charged area in the legal profession.  Matters involving divorcecustodyvisitation, and property division can spark a variety of emotions ranging from heartache, to feelings of uncertainty, to outright vengefulness.  Clients need strong support through periods that can be highly emotional, requiring calm and reasoned decision-making.  It is important to have a compassionate advocate working on your behalf to explain your rights and obligations and to protect your interests during this most difficult time.

As your family law attorney, I can provide you with highly skilled, professional and compassionate legal representation throughout your family law case.  I have an undergraduate degree in social work with an emphasis on families from the University of Illinois.  In 1987, I earned a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law.  Following law school, I practiced in the area of tax and business planning for six years and was a law professor at the University of Missouri School of Law where I taught family law, disability law, tax, and business planning.

I have devoted my practice to the area of family law representing clients in divorce, custody, legal separation, visitation, spousal maintenance, paternity, premarital agreements, and other domestic relations issues.  With a social work background and tax and business planning experience, I am qualified to handle all of your family law needs from a simple uncontested divorce to complex matters involving tax and business assets.

I also practice heavily in the area of Adoption.  As an adoptive parent myself, I have a personal understanding of the emotions, including the frustration often associated with the adoption process.

My goal in every case is to achieve the best possible outcome for your situation.  As your legal counsel, I will explain your options, guide you through the process, and follow your directives regarding the manner in which you would like to accomplish your goals. While it is always beneficial for both parties to resolve their differences amicably, it does not always happen.  When appropriate, I encourage the use of alternative dispute resolution techniques such as mediation and arbitration.  However, if these methods prove unsuccessful and traditional methods of litigation become necessary, I will pursue your matter will aggressiveness and vigor to meet your objectives.

If you are facing a family law issue or simply want assistance in bringing an adopted child into your home, and would like to retain an attorney who is committed to protecting your rights as an individual and a parent, contact me today.  I look forward to meeting with you and discussing how I may be of further service to you and your family.
